The Lyness 6-in-1 Scalp Massager is designed to encourage hair growth, density, and strength by combining mechanical massage, EMS technology, and targeted LED light therapy. By delivering hair oil directly to the roots while stimulating the tissue, it creates the optimal environment for healthy growth and reduced thinning.

  • Scalp massage and circulation: Physical massage helps dilate blood vessels and loosen debris around the follicle. This increases the delivery of oxygen and nutrients needed for stronger hair growth.
  • EMS technology: Low-level electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) encourages activity within the scalp tissue. By providing this stimulation, it helps anchor the hair more firmly at the root to reduce shedding and thinning.
  • Targeted LED Light Therapy:
    • Red Light: Penetrates the scalp to encourage ATP (energy) production within the follicle, which helps to prolong the active growth phase.
    • Blue Light: Helps regulate the scalp’s environment by managing oil production and reducing the buildup that can hinder healthy growth.
    • Purple Light: Combines the benefits of both red and blue light to address thinning while maintaining a balanced scalp
  • Direct Oil Dispensing: The built-in tank applies oil more evenly than manual application. This ensures botanical ingredients, especially those targeting greys and thinning, are absorbed directly at the root where they are most effective.

37% Higher Hair Growth vs Placebo

In a multicentre, randomized, double-blind trial, women self-treated at home with a device delivering 655 nm light for 25 minutes every other day for 16 weeks (60 sessions). The active group showed a significantly larger increase in terminal hair counts than the sham group, described as about 37% higher hair growth vs placebo, and no adverse events or side effects were reported in participants who completed the study.

This medically reviewed overview pulls together results from multiple studies and reports that red light (low-level laser therapy) has been associated with about 35% to 51% more hair growth than placebo in controlled trials when used consistently. It also summarizes a proposed biological mechanism involving mitochondrial activity and ATP production that may support follicles staying in the growth phase longer.

According to the abstract on PubMed, this multicentre randomized controlled trial evaluated a device using an array of 650 nm laser diodes. With use every other day for 17 weeks, participants receiving active light treatment achieved a 51% increase in hair counts compared with sham-treated controls in women aged 18 to 60 with androgenetic alopecia.
